Cars in German City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a individual who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Vehicles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.

Law enforcement state they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they stated.

Police then found numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under legislation prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say early analysis indicate the substance was likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; authorities are currently not informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.

City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure said the vandalism made him stunned and had to be solved quickly.

"This incident affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he posted on a platform, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a assailant aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
